Superyacht berths up to 180 mt are a rare thing for worldwide marinas and are always rarer for a fleet which is growing in terms of craft year afteryear, especially in the market of yachts over 100 mt.
In this range at the moment there are 21 superyachts under construction, 10 of which are scheduled for the delivery between 2019 and 2022 : the sector of 90+ looks like it is definitely ready to proceed along a positive trajectory.
This is an interesting moment for the nautical industry since It is a period of consolidation and reform of the superyachts sector.
10 years after the Global Financial Crisis, as a result of which, elements like global orders portfolio suffered and Shipyards have significantly downsized, in the sector 90+ for a total of 34 Shipyards able to build superyachts of these sizes, now there are only 10, of which 3 in particular (Lurssen, Oceanco, Feadship) contribute for the major part of the projects.
In the last 10 years it has been seen that despite the industry has been influenced by GFC, the request for large yachts is intact, if you have a look at the whole sector there are many Shipyards which are building or have just launched their MY bigger than ever.
The sector 70+ in particular is incredibly active: in 2018, 21 yachts of this range have been delivered and the trend nowadays seems to remain stable since there are 44 megayachts 70+ under construction at the moment.
If you have a look at the figures of 2018 you can notice an increase both of the new constructions and brokerage in terms of sales and sizes of the transactions (see graphic).
